"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end."- Seneca
Paradise Valley Community College, my next destination in life. This last weekend I had the opportunity to try out for the PVCC Softball team and I can gladly say that I am now officially a PV Puma! With my high school softball career ending abruptly and not on the best note, I felt as though softball would just be another weekend gig with me playing on a co-ed team. Yes, we would be the team of old people pretending that we were still in our teens...until the next day when we couldn't even walk due to stiff bodies. Then, I decided that softball means a lot more to me than a one-day-a-month experience. Along with most things in my life that I care deeply about I told myself that I could not let it go that easily. I would fight for a chance to play again, to be a part of a team once more, and to do all I can to help fulfill a team's potential. Just as High School sports were a new beginning that stemmed from the end of my Jr. High career, college athletics will literally be a whole new "ball game." I feel blessed for the chance I have been given to play again. The feeling of accomplishment fills me once more and I feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that all my extra days spent on the pitching mound, extra balls hit, and extra mental preparation are not going to waste. I now have to begin a new life of extra time spent on the field, if I want to prove myself again. I know that this is possible and I am willing to do all that it takes to make this new dream a memory that will stay with me throughout my life. It is reassuring to see that with every end a new beginning is born, and with every new beginning another story of my life begins to unfold.
