Painful but Victorious Week

Loma’tufki! In other words good evening folks. Well it’s been a whole week since my last blog. Can you believe it?! A whole week already! In a couple of days it’s going to be February, which means as for us seniors we only have four more months left until that baby is born! I don’t know whether to be excited about it or sad because that means we’ll be going off on our own without relying on anyone but our ourselves. On the bright side we will have achieved the first step of our teenage lives. But anyways enough about school let me tell you what happened to me this week.
The week started off pretty good and all was great until that third quarter of Tuesday night’s game against the Winslow Bulldogs. Unfortunately during that third quarter, while trying to attempt an aggressive lay-up, my landing didn’t turn out as I thought it would. While I usually come down smoothly I ended up landing straight on a Bulldog defender’s foot and consequently sprained my ankle. The pain wasn’t that bad but it was enough to make my coach sit me the rest of the game. That was so frustrating! The game was too intense for me to be sitting out at that point. Regardless, I sat anyway. Sitting there watching my teammates fight for the win was not what I planned for that game. But, in the end, I was very proud of them for defeating the Bulldogs on their senior night. That put the icing on the cake! Knowing that we beat our arch rivals, on their home court, during my senior year will be a memory I will keep forever.
The next game came on Friday and I was as ready as ever to be back on the court. Sadly, my coach thought otherwise, so I sat that game as well. I knew we would get the win, but I still felt that I could have contributed a little bit that night. Then came Saturday and once again my hopes of playing were shot down and the girl’s got the victory without me. But, hey I guess it’s better to heal up for my senior night, and also our last two games of the season. Also, with the state playoffs right around the corner, I will be pumped but hopefully not too much out of shape.
After writing this blog it has gotten me pretty pumped for these next few games and we’re going out on that court to kick the other team’s butts! So until then, KB signing out.

Get to know me

Get to know me

There are three things that you should know about me. One, I’m very talkative when it comes to internet socializing (which now includes blogs), two I’m very athletic, and three I have a lot of random thoughts that run through my head from day to day. So, this blog will be about pretty much the random thoughts that visit me from time to time. As for this first blog, let me give you a little background about myself. My name is Kellin Rae Bakurza as all you might already know, but I prefer to be called KB. I am full blooded Hopi from Second Mesa, Arizona. I just recently turned 18 which now means I am considered an adult, how fun is that….I hope lots! Well I am anxiously awaiting these next five months to fly by because as a senior I will be graduating! YAY! Man how time flies, just to think I was just a little freshman but since then I haven’t grown much so I guess you could still say I’m a little senior. With that said, athletics have been making my senior year an enjoyable, but exhausting one. Then again, the sports are what make me drag myself to school every day…well, the education too of course (wink wink). You may be wondering what sports I play. To answer your question I play volleyball, basketball, and softball which I have a big passion for all three. The fall came and went with volleyball, which went pretty well for my senior year because we made it to the second round of the state playoffs. Something to be proud of I say. Next is basketball which I have to say is going pretty good. We’re getting to the end of our season, which we hope to win the rest of our games to make it to the next step, which is to be in the Final Four of the State Championships. As a team leader, I know we can get there if we put our minds and hearts to it. Also, being a veteran team insures that we can make it to the next step. After this season comes softball, but we’ll get to that later. Let’s talk about some of the things I like, and my favorite hobbies. First of all, I love to text, eat, and be around the people that I love. My all-time favorite restaurant is Olive Garden, and I eat Hot Cheetos by the bag. My favorite, and what will always be my favorite, color is purple. Some of my favorite movies include: Coach Carter, Despicable Me, The Notebook, Love and Basketball, Courageous, and Friday.
Well those are just some basic things about me and my background. Don’t worry more details will come later and you will soon find out how different I really am when all my random thoughts pour out into my blogs. Then you’ll find out quiet KB isn’t so quiet at all. Well until next time, KB signing out!
